Reinvigorate Your Lawn with ECS Grass Paint
We’re painting grass because there’s very little water left in Andalucia – only 21% at the moment, which won’t be enough for the whole year. People like having pretty gardens, but we’re seeing more and more of the land turning into desert every day, and that’s a big problem. So, we’re providing grass paint to help. It’s part of our forestry project aimed at protecting trees. By painting the grass, we hope people will use less water, which is good for the environment and our trees. We want to keep the land healthy and prevent it from becoming desert, all while making it look nice for everyone.
How it works
Grass painting, also known as turf painting or lawn painting, is a process used to change the color of grass temporarily for aesthetic purposes or to disguise discoloration caused by factors like drought. Here’s how it generally works:
Preparation: Before applying the paint, the grass should be mowed to a consistent height and cleared of debris such as leaves and branches. It’s also important to ensure that the grass is dry, as painting wet grass can result in uneven coverage.
Application: Grass paint can be applied using various methods, including spray guns, paint rollers, or handheld pump sprayers. The chosen method depends on the size of the area to be painted and the equipment available. The paint should be applied evenly to achieve a natural appearance.
Finish colour: At ECS we recommend consumption of 11.34l per 4046sqm for an even green appearance on brown grass. Should the grass not be completely dormant, this can be reduced to 7.56l per 4046sqm.
Drying Time: After application, the paint needs time to dry. Typically, it dries within a few hours, but this can vary depending on factors such as temperature and humidity.
Durability: Grass paint is designed to be temporary and will gradually fade over time, usually lasting several weeks to a few months, depending on environmental conditions and maintenance practices.
Maintenance: To maintain the appearance of the painted grass for a longer period, it’s essential to avoid mowing or watering the grass excessively, as this can cause the paint to wear off more quickly.
Overall, grass painting provides a quick and cost-effective solution for improving the appearance of lawns, particularly during periods of drought or when natural grass growth is insufficient. However, it’s essential to use high-quality, non-toxic paint and follow proper application and maintenance procedures to achieve the desired results without harming the grass.
